Promoting better precinct organization

When was the last time you ever attended a standing room only precinct meeting? How about been the only person there? It's more likely the latter. Of course we've got some places in this state that are extremely rural and hard to organize, and others that are very urban with more interested people.

The fact remains that it's difficult to get people interested in turning out to any type of meeting, (even with food and good speakers), much less onewherewe just elect officers anddelegates and then go home.

Out of the over four million residents of South Carolina, around fivethousand or soturn out for precinct meetings.Apathy is not our friend.

So how could we do better? One clear way would be to alert those that have given money to the Republican Party about the opportunity to get involved.

Too many donors to our national party are just that - donors. And it's not because they wouldn't otherwise get involved, but they aren't always aware of the opportunity. Our national party should work closer with our state and local organizations to ensure those people are led into our local party structure.

The county and precinct organizations are the frontlines in our political battles. And thisis another example of what we can do if all levels of our party's organization pooled their resources - leveragingour way to a better organization.
