SC stays "First in the South"
This morning (Wednesday) the Standing Commnittee on Rules for the Republican National Committee voted to adopt the "Ohio Plan", (see previous entry), hopefully bringing a little order to our presidential primary process. The end result is the plan forces the states to spread their primaries out on the
calendar, vs. bunching them up early in the year.
The bottom line for South Carolina Republicans is that this plan guarantees that our primary will remain the First in the South for years to come, (by granting special exceptions to Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada to go at least three weeks earlier than other states).
Our National Committeewoman, Cindy Costa, who is a member of Standing Rules, deserves a lot of credit for helping to push the proposal through the committee, (where it passed by a vote of 28 to 15). Be sure and tell her how much you appreciate her efforts next time you see her!
